1. What type of sessions do you do and what should I expect?
I do two different types:
1) Swedish/Deep
Tissue/BodyWork uses Effleurage (long gliding strokes, Petrissage (medium-depth strokes), Friction (deep tissue strokes),
stretching, pressure points and various techniques that I have developed over time and with experience. This type of work
focuses on the whole body, including soft tissue and muscles. Although the majority of the session is Swedish & Deep Tissue,
I do add a little of Shiatsu, Thai Massage, Reflexology and Reiki. It is very focused, strong and firm (which can be adjusted
according to individuals), but at the same time feels very relaxing and great to the touch. A much lighter type of BodyWork
can be done if requested. Sessions are 1 hour($80).
2) Foot Reflexology is an ancient practice of working specific
pressure points using the thumb and fingers on the feet, which correspond to each organ, gland and structure of the human
body, which helps to reduce tension, provide relaxation and enhance the natural healing abilities of the body and keep it
in balance. Sessions are 45 minutes ($80).
When you enter my place of business, I will talk with you about your
health and any problems you may have, ask you to undress, if receiving Swedish/Deep Tissue Bodywork (a towel/sheet is available,
but you can be nude if you prefer) and lay face down on the table. If receiving Foot Reflexology you only remove your shoes
and socks and lay face up on the table. I ask clients not to move around and lay still and concentrate on their breathing
for the best effect. I do not engage in conversation during the session, this is your time to relax and I need to concentrate
on you. Should something bother you it is fine to let me know. You will have time to carry on conversation before and after
the session.
2. What are the benefits of BodyWork & Foot Reflexology?
The main purpose of BodyWork
is to help you relax and ease stress within your body & mind, which in turn can help you have a good night's rest. In
addition BodyWork can also ease sore muscles and make the muscles feel good. BodyWork also maximizes the benefits of exercise
by increasing circulation which brings oxygen & nutrient rich blood to the muscle tissues to promote recovery and growth.
At the same time it flushes out lactic acid that builds up naturally during exercise and creates the "aches and pains" that
people talk about. BodyWork can reduce the chances of being injured by relaxing the muscles. Foot Reflexology helps to relieve
stress, encourage deep relaxation, improve circulation, cleanse the body of toxins, revitalizes energy and balances the whole
body system.
3. What areas of the body do you work?
With Swedish/Deep Tissue BodyWork, back, shoulders, neck,
buttocks, legs/thighs, calves, chest, abdomen, arms, hands, feet, face, unless told otherwise. With Foot Reflexolgy only the
feet are worked on.
4. Is the session done on a table?
Yes, a full size table is used for both BodyWork &
Foot Reflexology.
5. What are your hours and and how far in advance should I make an appointment?
Hours are Friday
evenings (6:30pm to 10pm), Saturday (hours vary from mornings to evenings) . All appointments are to be made
by phone, not email. You can send an email, but to confirm the appointment you must call me at 212-946-5688. Also my time
is as valuable as yours, so please be on time.
6. Is there any one you will not work on?
I do not work on
anyone with contagious skin or foot conditions (poison ivy, planters warts, etc). I will not work on anyone with a serious
health problem who have not consulted with their doctor first. For Swedish/Deep Tissue BodyWork, I do not work on individuals
over 210 lbs and you must be height/weight proportionate. I also will not work on anyone who is not hygienically clean. Please
make sure that you are showered and clean before coming to me. If for some reason (coming from work, etc.) you are not able
to shower, my place has a shower for your convenience.
